Happy New Year Anyway

Or maybe it’s happy scary New Year.

Here we are. It’s 2022. When I was a youngster, that seemed impossibly far into the future. But we’re here. Remember when it was 1984, and the book by the same name had scared the hell out of us? I do.

We need to reread it. It didn’t become that way in 1984, but now we’re dangerously edging toward that dystopian reality. Already the Republicans are working to eliminate the poor and middle class except for those who will serve them cheaply and without argument.
