Police: Want to be like the Military?
Then Train like Them
--
There have been many complaints about police having tanks, military weapons, military practices, military-like uniforms, and numerous war toys. I think the police began to stop serving the people and started leaning toward occupiers’ tyranny when militarization began.
If the police are to have military weapons and want to imitate the military in just about every way, they ought to meet military troops’ physical challenges.
Most police go to the academy from three months to a year, depending upon the state, and that’s it. If they stay employed as police officers, they will probably never have to do that again. They’ll never have to run, lift weights, revisit Constitutional Law, or any of that.
The military meanwhile demands a constant monitoring of and continuous qualification procedures to stay in the military. One learns and is expected to adhere to the chain of command. One is expected to maintain a certain level of fitness. They must be trained repeatedly on any equipment they will be using in the performance of their duty.
The police… Aw, they get a bunch of tanks and AR-type rifles with high capacity magazines, get in a cop car, and police the rest of us. I know, because I was a police officer.
Police officers who’ve been on the job a few years get doughy and out of shape. Consider what they do all day. Mostly they drive around. Usually, they stop for at least one meal, and then there are the well-known donuts and coffee breaks. It’s true that cops love to sit around drinking coffee and eating donuts and packing fat around their waists.
Has anyone noticed the size of many police officers? It seems more prevalent in rural areas, but who hasn’t seen a police officer who looks as if it would be all he could do to get out of the police car and he would never be able to outrun anyone in average shape or win a fight with a muscled and in shape man. Have we thought about the fact that sometimes police mess up so badly — hurting people more than necessary and yes, killing people — because they are afraid to get in a fight? It’s true. At least some of the time.
Some police nowadays are afraid to fight. Some cops will have to shoot you or gang up on you and choke you out if you don’t do as they command, because they damn sure can’t afford to get in a tussle that requires strength and fitness. I mean, look at them.
Yes, Virginia, there are cowards in police departments. And check their backgrounds and see how many of them were football or basketball heroes in high school? How many can run? How…
