We Don’t Stop Mourning our Mothers
No matter how old we are.
Today is my mother’s birthday. And three days after today will mark the first anniversary of her death.
She was 92, and for my sister and me, that was much too young for her to go. No matter how long they have lived, when your loved one dies, it is always too soon for those who grieve.
It’s been a hard year. I scarcely remember how we got through Thanksgiving and Christmas last year. It was difficult. Mother had created and been Thanksgiving and Christmas for all our lives.
